Everyone has there own thoughts on when to move the chicks from the parents, for me l tend to observe the birds and move the young at the weekend when l tend to be in the birdroom for longer periods while catching up on the chores.
Once l have seen the chicks eating seed the birds are moved to the young stock cage the birds and remain here until ready for the main flight.
This week l have had to remove 3 albino chicks from the nestbox fully feathered and a good size but reluctant to leave the nestbox. Within 2 days the transferred to the young stock cage.
It is strange how some chicks can virtually fly immediately once they leave the nestbox while other of the same age take a little longer to develop there flying skills.
